Hi there!

I'm using Chromium Version 75.0.3770.100 (Offizieller Build) snap (64-Bit) on Ubuntu 18.10
When I'm clicking on a nzb-Link nothing happens but Chromium should open nzbmonkey.
Can anybody tell me, where do I find the file or function, where I can change, what Chromium should do, when I'm clicking on a nzb-Link?

Following this answer for opening files or URLs, when you type xdb-open nzb-file-name (obviously replace nzb-file-name with the full path to the NZB file), does it open nzbmonkey?
If this is URI based (like magnet://foo) and not file based, them do the same, only replace nzb-file-name with the URL.

Hi and thanks for your reply!
xdb-open nzbfilename will open nzbmonkey and yes it is a URI format.
I tried Firefox and there is no problem with clicking on NZB links.
This will open nzbmonkey. So, I think there is a problem with the link between chromium and nzbmonkey but how do I fix it?

If you can reproduce using vanilla Chromium (the one that is downloaded from https://download-chromium.appspot.com or using Google Chrome and can provide a test page with the appropriate links that work in Firefox and not in Chromium/Chrome -
You can search crbug.com for an existing issue and star it. If you cannot find one, file a new issue using the "New issue" link on the same page.
Please, do not add a "+1" or "Me too" or "Confirmed" (or similar) comment. It just wastes the time of Chrome engineers and sends unnecessary e-mails to all of the people who starred the issue.

You can reply with a link to the found or created issue and might get triaged (and fixed) faster.

Thank you.

Hi again...

I don't think that this is bug or similar. I thing it is a link problem. When I tried it with firefox, firefox asked me which programm it should open for a nzblink, I told it nzbmonkey and it works.
So, is it possible to force chromium to reasked me what to do when I click on a nzblink? I think this would help...

Thank you

Chromium never asks the user to select an application. If there is a default handler for that protocol, it launches it. If not, it does not.

Generally, for feature requests, you can search crbug.com for an existing issue for this feature request and star it. If you cannot find one, you can use the "New issue" link at crbug.com to file a new one.
(If you do find one, do not add comments like "+1" or "me, too", it only hinders the development and it does not make the engineers implement the feature more quickly.)

Okay... So, is there a way to fix that handler for nzblnk? Or do you know in which file that handler stores its information what to do when you click on a nzb-link?

I am not a Linux user, so I have no idea. Try searching for registering protocol handlers on Linux on the web...

See what happens if you run "xdg-open nzb://whatever" from the command line. Chromium should just be using the standard freedesktop.org logic to determine protocol associations as most other things on Linux, which are typically configured as part of your desktop environment (gnome/kde/etc). xdg-open is the command line tool that also uses that logic so generally should behave the same for testing.
