We are currently developing a Digital Signage/Kiosk app for Android and are testing Trusted Web Activities as an alternative to WebView.

Our devices are used offline and deployed without Google Play Store.
Chromium 74 and Chrome Canary 74 are showing 4 dialogs and one toast which we want to be hidden:

1. "Update Google Play services - Chromium won't run unless you update Google Play services"
2. "Save data and browse faster"
3. "Sign in to Chome"
4. "App also has data in Chrome - You can clear the data in Chrome Settings"
5. "Running in Chrome" Toast

These dialogs are shown in our trusted web activity, is it possible to disable or hide them?

Thanks,
Dominik

Hi Dominik,

Hiding these dialogs isn't possible right now but I'm discussing with the eng team to see if we could support your use case in the future.  I'll post updates here.

Hello, I hope you are doing great.

I generated the app using the PWA Builder and uploaded the apk to the play store using my dev console. And used the “Let Google manage and protect your app signing key.” Now my app is live now but it is showing the loading/status bar. Is there any way to fix the issue? My store is built using Shopify and it doesn’t allow access – .well-known at the root level.

need some alternative options to verify digital asset links for SAS based e-commerce platforms like Shopify that doesn’t provide the root access to the users.

Please help, my app is live 🙁

My store is built using Shopify.

Waiting for a positive response soon.

Hey Rajan,

I don't have any experience with Shopify, but do these two links help you?

Hey

Do we have any update here? is this supported now to avoid below mentioned points?

1. "Update Google Play services - Chromium won't run unless you update Google Play services"
2. "Save data and browse faster"
3. "Sign in to Chome"
4. "App also has data in Chrome - You can clear the data in Chrome Settings"
5. "Running in Chrome" Toast

Thanks

The toast has been replaced with a notification that we found to be less intrusive in UXR.  Until we're able to offer apps partitioned storage, some form of privacy disclosure is going to be required.  We're exploring options for offering partitioned storage to apps, e.g. a completely separate cookie jar for the installed app from Chrome, but I don't have a timeline on when that would be in stable.

Can I revive this old one... we get these toasts when using the Managed Google Play web apps. I don't see any notification replacement with these.

These are enterprise fully managed or dedicated devices. Is there no way we can cease these toasts? They seem to serve no purpose at all. Users are just confused. Can appreciate the maintenance of these things for consumers but on enterprise devices that are fully managed, there should be a key we can set to stop these.

Thanks.
