Oh.
In that case - that icon has become a pretty standard icon for settings/menus/more, so I do not see a problem with it nowadays (beside the lack of way to name it when you remotely instruct someone to use it, but that almost never happens anyway).
It is not common to have the application icon at the top right corner and that it would show a menu.
On Windows, as part of the old ribbon design, you had an application icon at the top left corner (though that took quite a lot of real estate).
Also, having that icon at the top right corner would resemble the designs of old browsers where the icon of Internet Explorer or Netscape would show up animating in order to indicate that the browser is loading something (back when there were no tabs, only windows).
It would, also, perhaps be confusing for the user if they had extensions, because they would show up as icons next to that icon.
I am not feeling strongly about it, but it sounds like extra clutter.
