I already asked this over in another section but was not sure it was the right place.  I'm sure I am going to get a big NO but what the hey just curious.  I did read however that it is designed for newer machines but who knows maybe?

Yes, Chromium and Chrome run well on XP. Your CPU will need to support SSE2 (most do).

I was thinking the OS but I see that perhaps I am in the wrong place.  I am running Google Chrome now on XP and Linux with both.  So how would I go about getting the Chromium for XP?  I did look for it but don't even remember what happened, couldn't figure it out.  Thanks Philip

There is no official Chromium (from Google, anyway).
You can download development snapshots, but they are generally unstable, or build the stable release equivalent by yourself.

Why do you want Chromium instead of Google Chrome? Certain stuff are not supported (MP3, H264, automatic updates and some more).

Are you telling me not to use Chromium?  It seems as though you are steering me away from this browser?  Instead why don't you tell me how to get it for my xp machine.

Of course I am steering you away from Chromium. Chrome is the browser you should use, not Chromium. Chromium has no official releases. There are only build snapshots ("nightly builds") and continuous builds (builds that passes all of the automated tests, or close to it), that have not been manually tested or verified at all.

See the following threads for detailed information regarding Chromium versus Chrome -

I don't think you want Chromium. It may crash itself, your computer, and everything in your house. Beware...

All jokes aside, I think you are asking about Google Chrome, which is basically (more stable) Chromium rebranded with integrated Flash support, crash reporting, MP3 and AAC support, and a few other things. Here's a link.

If you do not want to use Chrome, you could also try Opera which is now based on Chromium.
