Facebook Video Problems

Hi, A friend and mine tried Chromium few days ago and everything went fine until this morning today, we can't see anymore facebook videos.

The message is in French : "Une erreur s'est produite. Nous rencontrons des difficultés pour lire cette vidéo"

Which is in English would be probably : "An error has occured. We encounter some difficulties to watch the video."

It's weird because yesterday, there was no problems.

Same for twitch streams, we can't see these anymore.

I think the problem would come from the flash player but it is updated.

Same from the Chromium build, I just re-installed via the mini-installer, but it is the same.

What can we do to see it like before... ?

Perhaps those websites switched from Flash to HTML5 and they probably use the non-free H.264 codec, which Chromium does not support out of the box and so the playback fails.

What version of Chromium are you using?

My version of Chromium is : "Version 61.0.3124.0 (Build de développement) (64 bits)"

I tried in the Chrome://flags to enables "Prefer HTLM over Flash" but it didn't work.

In my Chrome://components, I don't see the Adobe Flash Player.

I also tried to enables "Enable Input IME API" like some others guys said but obviously, nothing changes to me.

On the website of Adobe Flash Player, they said I have the latest version but it is not activated. They said that I should try to resd their technote. So I did it.

The first one told me to activate Enable Flash in the chrome://settings/content. It is already done. Nothing to do then.

The second Technote is exactly the same.

The third one told me to go on this website : https://get.adobe.com/fr/flashplayer/ Which is exactly the same where I was...

But I find an other way to get a much appropriate version on their website : https://get.adobe.com/fr/flashplayer/otherversions/ But it still doesn't work.

Maybe I'm on the wrong way, I think that the Flash is the issue there but now, I'm totally clueless.

My friend and I are totally newbies to all of this. We were before on Google Chrome but we want to try something different... We see that the internet privacy is something to matter. It is not the biggest step to make but we wanted to try with Chromium.

Chromium 61 is an unstable build. I strongly advise against using it for daily browsing.

Chromium does not really offer any privacy improvement. You can disable any "privacy-compromising" feature is Google Chrome, as far as I know and you get automatic updates, which keeps you secure.
