Hey Everyone,
I'm running into an issue with publishing Chrome in our corporate Citrix environment. The issue i have is I need to redirect the downloads directory to a network share as I do not want users downloading to their local docs or downloads directory on C:/. I applied the Google Chrome GPO template and set the "Set download directory" policy to enabled (as a computer policy, also tried as a user policy). I tried the different variables listed here https://www.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3/user-data-directory-variables
but was not able to redirect to a network share. Specifically i tried \\ournetworkshare\users\${user_name} but this did not work (every user in our environment has a folder that matches their user name in this share).

Any Ideas?

Can you map the network shares to a local drive e.g. \\ournetworkshare\users\${user_name} -> U:\ in your Citrix environment then you should be able to specify the path as U:\ only and this should work. This is a know limitation and hopefully one that will be lifted in the future.

I have the network share U:\ mapped to each user's location that would be the same place i would like the downloads to go to. I have tried placing U:\ in the set download directory policy but it does not direct to that share its mapped to.

Where is it going to then? Is it still going to the default download location or asking for download location on each download or going to /dev/null instead? I would suggest we continue this discussion on a bug in crbug.com. Can you please create bug there with the description of the problem as well as the answers to my questions above and just write here the bug number and we'll pick it up from there.
Thanks,
Julian
