Permissions to access chrome://thumb/* and chrome://favicon/*

Hi,

I am writing a extension where I need to get the favicons and
thumbnails of recently visited websites..

Say if I visited http://www.facebook.com, the chrome browser can
access the thumbnail and the favicon through chrome://thumb/http://www.facebook.com
and chrome://favicon/http://www.facebook.com respectively. When I
tried through my extension, neither favicon nor thumbnail were
accessible.

Please help me on this..

Hi,

it's not possible to access chrome://thumb and chrome://favicon from
extensions. There's a bug to add support for that which you can star:
http://crbug.com/11854

In general, you're going to get more useful answers to extension
questions on the chromium-extensions list:

Typing in "favicon" into the search box on that page found

for example (though that thread is almost 2 years old, so maybe things
