I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 with NVIDIA proprietary drivers
working properly.
I wish to know how can I enable Google Chrome to show WebGL examples
from:
http://khronos.org/webgl/wiki/Demo_Repository

I already tryied "./chrome --enable-webgl" but it don't work.

Please can someone give me a fully detailed guide?

Dear Fernando,

Have you found any solution to resolve your issue?

Also, does WebGL run on Chrome-Linux with software OpenGL driver,
without hardware support?

Regards,
Won

Hi,

I tried running WebGL in chrome-linux, but no luck. I have nVidia GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS/PCI/SSE2, with NVIDIA 173.14.22 driver installed. I can run WebGL contents in firefox nightly builds. But, chromium always complains that "Shader support couldn't be initialized".

Also, I don't think WebGL would work with software OpenGL drivers without hardware support (at least it didn't work with firefox in my Ubuntu 9.10).

Did WebGL worked for anyone? If so, please let us know the solution to make WebGL work in Linux.

Thanks.

Just got a solution to solve this problem in IRC. We need to launch chromium with one more extra flag '--in-process-webgl'.

./chrome --enable-webgl --no-sandbox --in-process-webgl

I understand that the --no-sandbox switch is (extremely dangerous and) not needed anymore.
I strongly recommend you to drop it.

Chromium's WebGL support works well with a variety of graphics cards
from AMD, Intel and NVIDIA with current graphics drivers (including
those which ship with Ubuntu 12.04 by default).

about:gpu should provide information about why it may not be working
with your particular card.

According to your about:gpu, WebGL should be working. I've tested the
same fglrx driver on Ubuntu 12.04 with an AMD Radeon HD 6850.

Does relatively simple content such as:
https://www.khronos.org/registry/webgl/sdk/demos/google/san-angeles/
http://webglsamples.googlecode.com/hg/aquarium/aquarium.html

work? If not, what if anything is printed to the JavaScript console?

What about http://www.webkit.org/blog-files/3d-transforms/poster-circle.html ?
