I recently saw chromium's new built-in dns resolver, and I was searching for a way to set the dns server it uses. I know that there has been something around this some years ago, as I get many posts from 2010 when searching on it. I can't find any recent post/article on this. There are old posts that say you can use the --dns-server flag, but this doesn't seem to work, and it isn't in the man page either. Does anybody have any clue about this?

My Chromium is version 22.

The old --dns-server flag was necessary before the built-in resolver could auto-configure itself using the system DNS configuration.

What is your use case for the --dns-server flag? It might make sense to file a feature request at http://crbug.com/new

Thanks for the response. I have been searching for a browser with a built-in configurable dns resolver for a long time, so I don't have to rely on the (usually very slow) standard dns server on a system where I'm not an admin. If chrome can have its own dns resolver, it should be configurable too. Like many people say the browser is almost like an OS these days, and obviously you can set the dns server on an OS.

If I have time, I could patch it myself.
