Hello,

I'm following the procedure from https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/download-chromium
Let's say I'd like to download the most current Win64 stable (now 49.0.2623.87, before 49.0.2623.75, both from early March, as per https://omahaproxy.appspot.com/)

If I enter either number in the Version lookup below, I get "Branch Base Position: 369907", which is what is meant by "base position" in the instructions if I'm correct.
It is clear that this commit can't be the correct one for both versions.
Also, if I then try to download it (or more correctly 369898, as 369907 is not there and 369898 is the next smaller build number), I can see that the file date is 2016-01-16, and not a build from March.

What am I doing wrong here? Is there another place to convert a version into a commit number?

Thank you & Best regards!

The base commit is the commit when the branch was created, so that's the same for all 49 stable versions. You want the branch_commit column.

But the website does mention that. See the bottom:
"As this build was made at 44 branch point, it does not have any commits merged in while in beta.

Typically that's OK, but if you need a true build of "44.0.2403.x" then you'll need to build Chromium from the 2403 branch. Some PortableApps/PortableChromium sites offer binaries like this, due to security concerns, the Chrome team does not recommend running them."

Hi Christian,

thank you, but how can I convert that branch_commit hash into a Commit Position I could use to filter at https://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/chromium-browser-snapshots/index.html?prefix=Win/ ?

There are no branch builds in that directory. I don't know if they
exist somewhere else, but the page you found does imply that they
don't exist and you have to build it yourself.

We don't have any public builds of branches in chromium at all; you cannot get branch builds from us.

Branches are only built by other organisations (such as Google, Opera, Linux distros, and various people on the internet).

Hi Christian, Hi Torne,

OK, too bad.

Thanks for the information.
