Chromium seems to have installed itself without my say so, or possibly Vuze has installed it, and i'm very disturbed by this. where is it? i have no idea what it is for, and i want to delete it. but it's not in my Applications folder, and a search has not found it. where is it hiding? please can someone help? thank you.

The Chromium binaries that the Chromium project makes available online (for testing only) do not update, install or launch automatically.
You are probably infected with some malware that uses some customized Chromium binaries as one of its malicious mechanisms. :(
See this thread for at least removing that rogue Chromium -

thank you. but something has. Vuze, i think, as it only fires up when Vuze is running, and even though I keep forcing it to quit, it keeps coming up again. Vuze is about as unresponsive and uncaring and useless as google is.Can't get hold of them and ask them at all.  Chromium exists on my computer, but I cannot find it. I need to delete it. Where would it run from? Everything I read about how to delete it assumes I know where it is. It is not in my Applications folder, and no search reveals it.

What business have Google got releasing software that is capable of being maliciously used on people's computers? Google are intolerably evil.

that link wasn't any help. i'm afraid. why does everybody assume Windows is the only operating system in the world? And as I've repeatedly said, I do not know where it is. If I did, I am quite capable of uninstalling software and I could do it without coming here.

Stop blaming others for inherent open source problems. Someone downloaded / compiled the Chromium source and somehow got you to install it. They could have changed that Chromium source to do anything they want and only they know what they changed.

Since we know nothing about your installed Chromium, we can't tell you anything. You need to find it yourself. Start with the simple stuff first such as the process manager. Windows and Linux can tell you what program started the process and where that program resides. Another possibility is to do a find on you disk for a file that is used by Chromium. Remember they could have changed that file name since they have source.

Also note that deleting that chromium does not guarantee they did not build a re-installer that simply reinstalls it forcing you to do this all over again.

Good luck, Jon.
