Before the update to Google Chrome, I used to be able to cut and paste bookmarks to any order or position that I want to a specific bookmark folder in Bookmark Manager, which was possible by right clicking a bookmark and the feature 'cut'. I do this for every video and notable thing that I visit while I scour the internet (It's become a habit) and I've amassed over 5000+ bookmarks in a single folder.

However after the update, I am no longer able to do this as the only the following options appear when I right click:

And now in order to move a new or recent bookmark to the top, I would have to manually move the bookmark with the cursor and drag it up to the top of the folder, which for my folder with 5000+ bookmarks takes 45-50 minutes to get done. The other option is that I copy the url of the bookmark I want to move and replace in an existing bookmark that I have at the top of my folder, which I really don't want to do.

Is there any way to resolve this or at least bring back the option to cut and paste bookmarks to anywhere within a folder in the bookmark manager ???

It would greatly appreciated

Thanks

In the new Material Design Bookmarks, you can select multiple bookmarks or copy or move multiple bookmarks to another folder, by:
  1. Click the first bookmark you want to select
  2. Shift+Click the last bookmark you want to select
  3. Ctrl+C to copy all the selected bookmarks   -- OR --   Ctrl+X to cut/remove all the selected bookmarks
  4. Go to destination folder
  5. Ctrl+V to paste the previously selected bookmarks
Ctrl+A to select all bookmarks  and  Ctrl+Z to Undo  still seem to work

Well, that's just stupid, IMO.   Removing a perfectly useful, easy to understand sub-menu,  replaced with 2 'secret' control sequences.  How many users, especially new users, know about these?  Retrograde.  More GoogleThink.   And 'Copy URL' is still on the changed menu, so why not 'Paste URL'??  Show in Folder, Cut/Copy/Paste, Undo Delete, Add Page, Add Folder also missing.   I guess I'll have to look up Add Folder, too.   I have no idea what those secret control codes might be.

It should be called 'Material Non-design'.    Making our way back to the days of WordPerfect, which opened with nothing but a cursor on a black screen, are we?  'Jumped the shark' mean anything to you 'designers'?     Chrome/Chromium version 74.03729.108, for me, is not improving, but getting more difficult to use.  Chromium 55.0.2883.75 UI is superior, at least on a desktop system.  I guess I'll have to use it until it doesn't work anymore.  Actually I'm running Slimjet 13.  At least some of the stupidity --or is it just being too, too clever?--is corrected.

Are you experiencing bugs, or are you just not liking the way it looks/works?
For the former, you can use crbug.com and they may get fixed. For the latter, feel free to post concrete improvement suggestions (either here or on crbug.com) or specific pain points.

I know this is old but I still can't do it. I can select and copy or cut multiple bookmarks in the bookmark manager no problem, but when I select paste, nothing happens.

If you press F12 and then continue to paste as usual, does the console show any error?
(I cannot reproduce your issue. I tried copying 5 bookmarks and pasting them in another folder and it worked)

No, the console does not show any error, see below. Actually it doesn't even give me the option to paste when I click free space in the folder I'd like to move to. I have to click on an existing bookmark for the paste option to appear, otherwise I only see the options you can see on the screenshot. STRG+V naturally doesn't work either. I can't even move a single bookmark this way.

First, your screenshot does not show the Console panel of the Developer Tools.
Second, I see the updated bookmarks manager now, too. It does not have an option to copy at all in the context menu when you select multiple bookmarks, which is weird.
The keyboard shortcut (Control + C, I am guess STRG is the German equivalent of Control) does work, though. I press Control + C and Control + V and the bookmarks are duplicated as expected. I select multiple bookmarks (using Control), press Control + X, go to a different folder and press Control + V and it moves the bookmarks. No issue here beside the awkward keyboard-only workflow.

Yeah, in the context menu, Paste is greyed out. What's the point of being able to Copy if you can't Paste? But Ctrl-V for Insert still works, so the glitch is that Paste is greyed out in the context menu.

Does this still happen to you?
I cannot reproduce. Can you outline exact steps?
