I want to propose a new feature for google chrome:

A new html tag so any web can change its tab context menu. This way
web apps would look more like a desktop app.

For example, I'm currently listening to music with a web app, and I'm
about to watch a youtube video, so I can easly stop the music by right
clicking the music player and then selecting Stop.

I made a couple of mock-ups:
http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/6194/musiccontext.png
and
http://img704.imageshack.us/i/downloadscontext.png/

I think it would be something like this:
(In the head)
<contextmenu rel="tab">
<contextitem type="action" action="playPause();"> Play / Pause </
contextitem>
<contextitem type="action" action="restart();"> Restart </
contextitem>
<contextitem type="action" action="next();"> Next </contextitem>
<contextitem type="action" action="previous();"> Previous </
contextitem>
<contextitem type="checkbox" action="randomToogle();"> Random </
contextitem>
<contextitem type="action" action="openAbout();"> About Groove Shark
</contextitem>
</contextmenu>

Please give me your feedback, what do you think and if it is posible.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

I think this is a great idea. Surely the perfect browser of the
future will implement something like this.

Is this the proper place to propose that? How do we get some people
on that? Interested in hearing more... anyone?

This could open up a whole new can of worms (good, tasty worms).
Imagine: ya know when you search Google for something big, like say
Best Buy? When the BestBuy.com result comes up, under it there are the
subcategories of the site (e.g. Cameras, TVs, Games). What if
websites could customize these menus (add to. never take away), and
have those shortcuts there. I'm sure there are plenty more ideas I'll
come up with throughout the day.

I don't even know if this is the right place. Perhaps this is not for
proposing just for discussing about already implemented new features.
If anyone know please tell us.
And nice idea JW, Im shure there are a lot of nice ideas out there,
but we need support.

If you want something to be part of the standards, you should propose it at the mailing lists of whatwg.org.

It's already possible for web developers to implement that
functionality - though I admit, it's more painful than it needs to
be. Take a look at the site below, which shows example code & a demo,
should you want to implement this functionality in any of your own
pages.

Hope that helps?

This is actually a different idea. The idea here is to right click on
the actual TAB. So essentially, the context menu would have to be a
middle ground between the site and the browser - the site would have
to have this programmed and the browser would have to be able to
display/execute it.
