I need to be able to manage my companies favorites via group policy. I've added the latest ADMX to the central store and configured my policies for Chrome, the issue I'm finding is that the supplied field "Managed Bookmarks" does not supply me with enough characters to add all the favourites I need to add. I've used the JSON editor to create the structure I need, but when I paste the ouput code into the GPO it simply doesn't fit, just truncates the end of it off. I've been working from http://www.chromium.org/administrators/complex-policies-on-windows to do this, but it doesn't mention this limitation. Anyone know a work around?

text file attached with what I'm trying to add.

I have a file containing over 30,000 characters that I need to use for the ManagedBookmarks Chromium group policy. The thread to which you linked indicated that the length was determined by this text element. Can I change that value? If so, how do I go about it?

Hello,

the current maxLenght for ManagedBookmarks is 1000000 characters which should be enough for your case. If it is still truncated there might be another limitation of the GPO system regarding the string length. You can try toeither directly write the value in the registry or use expanded JSON structure as described here http://www.chromium.org/administrators/complex-policies-on-windows#TOC-Option-3:-expanded-JSON-in-the-registry

Julian,

Thank you for the information. We will continue to look into this issue further. Is it possible to see what the maxLength is?

Thanks!

Hello,

yes you can see this by inspecting the chrome.admx policy template where each policy is described for the GPO editor UI.

Best,
Julian
