I realize that there may only be a limited demand for a Chromium port for this platform.
Especially considering the fact that by default Windows RT locks out apps not installed through their app store.
But last year the a jailbreak was released for the Windows 8.1 RT.
The jailbreak puts the Windows RT in a "test mode" which allows running sideloaded "signed" apps regardless of who the signs the executable.

Since there are already chome/chromium ports for the arm architecture and the windows x86/x64 platforms, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to create a port for the windows 8.1 rt (arm) platform?

Are there any developers out there actively working to port chromium for windows rt?

Any information would be appreciated.
Thank You.

The last I heard about Windows RT was that it does not let you run a just in time compilation or something similar that is needed by V8. If this is still the case (and I imagine it is, because I do not think any browser exists on Windows RT except Internet Explorer or Edge), it will simply be impossible.

Also, as far as I know, it is missing the entire Win32 API, which I imagine is highly relied upon by Chrome, so it will probably be almost like porting to a new operating system.

I do not believe that requiring store only applications was the barrier that made Google not develop Chrome for Windows RT.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I found a thread in a different board discussing porting Chromium for Windows RT.
There was a guy trying to build a port back in 2013.
From what I can gather from reading the message board, is that the project is dead in the water.
Too complex I believe.

There appears to the qupzilla browser has been ported to Windows RT, but from what I understood of the technical jargon,
the JIT had been disabled to make it work.

Perhaps its time to give up up my hopes that my surface2 will become a kickass platform one day...
