I am a long-time Opera user, but because of their poor support of Opera Mobile of late, I moved to Chrome on Android, and as a knock-on started using Chrome on the desktop (because of the better-than-Opera  sync options).

Everything is working out well, except one bit of behaviour that drives me absolutely nuts.  When I close the last tab, the browser closes.   I am used to Opera displaying my Speed Dial (which I see Chrome now has, of sorts).

Is there a way to stop this frustrating behavior?  I found an extension, but it's not very good, it's only works on "real" pages, i.e. not Chrome internal pages.

Am I alone in my frustrations with this behavior (I know IE does the same), not sure what Firefox does, never used it.

There is the Chrome Toolbox extension, which employs an NPAPI DLL plugin (and thus is only supported under Windows XP - 7) to make this work for any page (and then some).
