dragend fires during drag

Hi everyone,

In Chrome 35.0.1916.114 I'm seeing a problem with dragend firing during a drag, while the left mouse button is still pressed and no attempt has been made to cancel the drag by pressing Escape on the keyboard. When dragend fires, event.dropEffect is "none" and event.button is 0.

This problem seems to get worse the more quickly repeated drag and drop gestures are attempted. I've searched the Chromium bug database but can't find anything remotely similar described there.

Firefox runs the identical code without ever missing a beat.

Has anyone experienced something similar in Chrome, and if so is it rooted in a misapplication of the DnD API in the JavaScript application or is there a bug in Chrome?

The attached drag and drop example demonstrates the problem of dragend firing before the drop is complete.

I've filed a bug for this as well but as the problem appears to persist on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS in the latest version of Chrome does anyone have a workaround for the time being?
