WebGL crashes frequently

For the past few weeks any tab with WebGL in has been crashing randomly and frequently.

When the crash occurs, the tab goes black for a few seconds and then recovers. Some pages (such as Google Maps) report that WebGL has crashed and needs to be reloaded.

This crashing can also occur from CSS and JavaScript animations.

Occasionally the crash is so severe that the entire of Chrome crashes, and I have to kill it in task manager.

I've been told that disabling hardware acceleration may help, but it also disables WebGL - something that I need occasionally (I'm a web developer).

I'm unsure if the crashing started with the new Chrome version or a new Nvidia driver version, but both are up to date.

Windows: Win10Prox64 Version 1607 Build 14393.1198
Chrome: Version 58.0.3029.110 (64-bit)
Nvidia: 382.05 (04/May/2017)

Any clues?

You can search crbug.com for an existing issue and star it. If you cannot find one, file a new issue using the "New issue" link on the same page.
Please, do not add a "+1" or "Me too" or "Confirmed" (or similar) comment. It just wastes the time of Chrome engineers and sends unnecessary e-mails to all of the people who starred the issue.

You can reply with a link to the found or created issue and might get triaged (and fixed) faster.

Thank you.

If you can't find a bug report, please file one and include:

- The contents of about:gpu
- Any server-side crash IDs from about:crashes
- Any URLs to pages that reliably reproduce the problem

Thanks.
