Better yet, at least bring down the omnibar :)

You should search crbug.com for issues reported by others which match
what you're requesting, star any you find that you're interested in, or
report any that you don't find.

This one in particular has been requested by a few people already, so
there should already be an issue on the tracker for it.

You're going to have to search the bugs for status of "All Issues", so
you will find all the Duplicates and Wontfixes for this request.

e308ad, please, please help to find a way to convince the devs to fix
this bug!

I've learned in business, you don't try to convince an employee of
anything. You just hire someone else who is convinced. The only way to
convince google to fix this is for someone like firefox to build a
better browser.

This is one of the reasons why I use IE9 on my netbook, because I can
full screen the browser and still have access to the OneBox and tabs,
either via the auto-show or just "pin" it (no auto-hide).

The dev team will say "But there are extensions for me...", and there
is one, but it doesn't work anymore.

As far as extensions go, this one still seems to work:
Fullscreen address bar

@Sterling, could I ask which extension you mean that doesn't work
anymore?

Sterling:

This is the current behaviour of chrome on the Mac. I can assure you
that it's quite disorienting when I need to use a pc.

I would suggest that you report a bug at crbug.com. That's where the
chrome team processes their bugs. And you will probably get a quick
response from a developer there.

Also, send the link to the bug once youve reported it, I'll add my own
two cents.

Please do not file a bug. It will just be marked as a duplicate of this bug:

krtulmay,

Sorry for the late reply. The extension you linked to is the one I was
referring to. I actually tried that extension a few Chrome versions
ago and it didn't work. I guess it's back to working? As you can see,
though, it's going to be almost a year since it was last updated.

Shale Craig,

Yep. I starred a bug report, but it has a WontFix label on it.
