Minor improvement to Chromium Compact UI

I like the compact UI so far. However, I think it can be improved if
focus could be switched from the website to the URL bar when you click
on the tab to display the URL bar. Thus, you can just click on the tab
and immediately start typing your next URL in.

That never happened with the normal user interface, what would that happen with the compact one?

Because in the normal user interface, the URL bar isn't hidden, you
can directly click in it. In the compact UI, you have to first click
the tab to unhide that bar. If you are clicking the tab because you
want access to the url bar, wouldn't it make sense to also shift focus
to it? After all, the only reason to unhide the url bar is to either
copy the url, change the url, or look at the url. The first two
functions would be expedited by this change while the third would be
unaffected.

Also, consistency. This is how the find on page currently operates.
When it comes up, focus is shifted to it,

*Why (correction to my message)

Sorry, I misread your text, I thought you meant that clicking a tab will automatically show and focus on the omnibox, not only when you click on a tab in order to show the omnibox.

I think it is a logical idea.
Generally, for feature requests, you can search crbug.com for an existing issue for this feature request and star it. If you cannot find one, you can file a new issue at new.crbug.com.

Sounds good to me> I really believe that Compact Navigation is good
enough to go stable though, from my testing so far, The only issue is
that you need a way to access browser action extensions.

If you look at all these Compact Nav bugs, and most of them are
serious usability problems, you will see that it is nowhere near ready
to go stable yet.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list?can=2&q=feature%3ACompactNav

Also, from this comment, it's clear that the devs are still ironing
out the final layout and functions:
"... but let's figure out the rest of the [Compact Nav] feature before
getting into the finer details of aesthetics - how it evolves may or
may not ..."
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=83552#c2

And searching the buglist for "crash" and "compact" will reveal at
least one bug:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list?can=2&q=crash+compact

Compact Nav still has a long timeframe of development and testing yet
to go.

I'm a big fan of compact nav; I've been using it for a couple days and
no crashes so far. The only issue I have is missing the functionality
afforded by being able to view extensions like google calendar
checker, google voice, weather etc. Since we've got an omnibox, why
not turn the bookmarks bar into an omnibar which could include
bookmarks, apps, and extensions? Barring that (ha) it would be nice
to have a keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle compact nav on/off. I
guess the lab has to graduate before that would be implemented.

Yes, ctrl+L and alt+D show the compact address bar. The point,
though, was to be able to see extensions which provide useful
information (e.g., time until your next appointment, # of items in
your google voice inbox).

I know, I just responded to one of the things you mentioned.
