Hi Google,

Despite clearing my cache thus clearing my MEI scores, Chrome 66 still auto-plays content/ad from both JW and Brightcove players.

JW:

https://www.thecomedynetwork.ca/video/player?vid=1381838 (unmuted)

Brightcove:

http://www.muramur.ca/inspiration/video/preparer-maison-pour-printemps-1.3751190 (unmuted)

My MEI score: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oqISOtmP8GlpdKSdRGKO98W_qrYd5NBu/view?usp=sharing

Can you confirm why Chrome 66 is still allowing auto-play despite both examples playing back with sound? Just trying to get a better understanding of when the new Chrome autoplay policy is being applied.

Thanks,

Allan

Note that the folks in this forum aren't "Hi Google". This forum isn't run by Google. It's a bunch of folks interested in discussing the open source OS Chromium OS. Google's OS is Chrome OS, not Chromium OS.

Not quite. This group is run by the Chromium project. The project is led by Google, so it is run by Google. Googlers often reply to posts here.
Plus, it is not discussing the operating system at all, it is discussing the browser.

Hi Allan,

These two links shouldn't autoplay on page load with the new policy indeed and I confirm they do not locally. Which version of Chrome are you running? If you run Chrome 66, can you restart it and try again?

Mounir, what behavior are you seeing when you say "I confirm they do not locally"?

I am running Chrome Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit) with cache cleared and no MEI data.

Thanks Mounir,

I'm running Chrome 66 (Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit).

My chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy is set to "Default".

Thanks,
Allan

What I meant is that when I tried on my machine, these pages did not autoplay, as expected. Is autoplay only enabled on these websites or in general in Chrome for you?

Our publisher players are auto-play enabled, here is another example;

Where do you set the toggle for Chrome autoplay to be enabled or disabled? My Chrome Auto play policy is set to "Default" (chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy).

There is a chance your Chrome Stable instance has autoplay restrictions disabled (as part of the control group of an experiment). Can you try with a fresh Chrome Beta (67)?
