Hi Everyone,

Ive been reading through a lot of issues and test setups, trying to achieve some way to debug Google Chrome with regards to media decoding. However so far ive been unsuccesfull. It seems the page that is titled for testers is outdated? Ive tried to get a WTF_LOG but i cant see any.

Currently im trying to verify that what im experiencing in Google Chrome is actually a bug and not something that is wrong with decoding or drm setup. I have a video running on dash.js and it dies after xx amount of seconds that seems to be random. Chrome can only give me a MEDIA_ERR_DECODE.

Ive been searching around for a better way to debug Chrome but i have a hard time figuring out how to set it up properly. Does it not work on stable release builds, does it not work on canary? Do i have to build my own version?

Next to that ive been trying to mimic a setup someone has which doesnt seem to work, e.g.

/Applications/Google\ Chrome\ Canary.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome\ Canary --enable-logging --log-level=0 --v=2 --vmodule=chunk*=3,source*=3,media*=3,webmed*=3,websou*=3,frame_pro*=3,webm*=3,mp4*=3,mp3*=3,*=0 --blink-platform-log-channels=Media --disable-web-security

What am i doing wrong here, can anyone help me with understanding this. I dont know if this is the right place to ask but i would love some insight into how to debug the core of Chrome and get more details about decoding errors. Media internals also isnt giving enough debugging information.

I would like to see something like:

[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE2:source_buffer_stream.cc(391)] RemoveInternal VIDEO (168.84, 168.88, 1)
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE3:source_buffer_stream.cc(394)] RemoveInternal VIDEO: before remove ranges_=[0;168.84(168.88)]
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE3:source_buffer_stream.cc(467)] RemoveInternal VIDEO: after remove ranges_=[0;168.84(168.88)]
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE2:source_buffer_stream.cc(391)] RemoveInternal VIDEO (168.88, 169.92, 0)
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE3:source_buffer_stream.cc(394)] RemoveInternal VIDEO: before remove ranges_=[0;168.84(168.88)]
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE3:source_buffer_stream.cc(467)] RemoveInternal VIDEO: after remove ranges_=[0;168.84(168.88)]
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE2:source_buffer_stream.cc(1312)] SetSelectedRangeIfNeeded VIDEO(37.92)
[25:25:0126/132606:VERBOSE1:source_buffer_stream.cc(353)] Append VIDEO: done. ranges_=[0;169.88(169.92)]

Instead i see mostly some console logging and some initial Verbose messages concerning other stuff like bluetooth.

Can anyone give me some insight as to what im missing and should be doing?

Ive been searching for tutorials and stuff but it seems this is something that is hard to find much info about on the web.

Thanks so much,
- Kenneth
