Downloading application/octet-stream sets file name to download.crdownload.

Actual saved file name: download.crdownload

If you think you've found a bug, please file a  bug on https://crbug.com/ (In this case, against the downloads component).  That's generally a better place for discussion and bug resolution than a large mailing list like chromium-dev.  Note that partial downloads are named *.crdownload to avoid trying to execute incomplete files or files that haven't yet had safebrowsing checks or whatnot run on them.  I know on some platforms, the file browser may not promptly update the displayed name of the downloaded file, even after Chrome has removed the crdownload extension, though I have no idea if that's the issue you're running into.

Unfortunately I can't file a Chromium bug report. Safebrowsing is turned off. The case is not for parallel downloads. I'm just letting Chromium developers know what the application is foing in this case. I don;t think it is intended, though it could be.
