start up gdb very slow

I have debug chromium of gdb issue

When I execute "$gdb chrome", it was very slow(but not error). I have to wait long time(about 19 minute).  Is this normal?

How to make it faster?

Why read symbol have to spend long time?

After 19 minute ....

I want to trace javascript V8 engine, I'm used gdb attach process id, and it read symbol long time again...

Other issue, I don't know its method name. how do I set breakpoint into v8 root method?

Have you took a look at the Linux debugging document?

Esp. "faster startup" part would be useful for you (e.g. add-gdb-index script or debug fission).
