Hello everyone,

Please join us in welcoming nine Chromium Google Summer of Code interns. We are delighted to see a considerable number of project proposals and

participation shown by students this year to contribute to chromium in making the web better for everyone.

Here are their own words on what they will be working on and how excited they are to work with us on various Chromium projects this summer.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped with their support and Chromium mentors for their participation.

Thank you,

Sreeja.

Description

Wenhe Li

Currently, I am an incoming student at Cornell Tech student and I will study at NYC this fall. For this summer, I will work on porting XNNPACK to chromiumOS. For this internship, I wish I could learn more about the coding guidelines and how chromium works as a huge open-source project.

Tasneem Koushar

I am a 2nd year student at NIT Silchar, Assam, India. Currently, I am leading an internship batch of 10 students at a new startup.

By contributing to Chromium, I am hoping to get an awesome learning experience and great community bonding. I am highly enthusiastic about this opportunity.

Throughout these 10 weeks I have expected to grow and develop my technical and communication skills.

I hope to accomplish my task of automating the puppeteer’s documentation with all expectations of my mentors and my own self.

I love doing research about new tools and technologies around. Besides, I spend some of my time learning contemporary dance, writing and doing social work.

I believe in learning by doing and have a very positive attitude towards mutual development.

Rahat Muneeb

I am a second year international student, studying Computer science and electronics at the University Of Bristol. Over the summer I will be working on Chrome DevTools particularly the Issues Tab. Not only would I love to experience the intricate workflows carried out inside Google but also learn more about OSS and develop my skills such that I'm able to contribute and make software at a much larger scale. I quite like to play basketball, read and play video games. However, currently I am being cajoled into taking up rock climbing by my friends.

Tobias Soppa

Currently I am studying Software Engineering at CODE University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, focussing on distributed systems this semester. During the summer I will work on implementing a cache for recently closed tabs in Chromium, such that reopening them will be instantaneous. From this internship I'd like to learn how to get started in huge code bases and collaborate effectively with the community in order to build great software. My favourite hobbies are bouldering, climbing and biking.

Bisakh Mondal

Currently, I am an undergraduate student of Jadavpur University, India and an active contributor to Apache APISIX, a cloud-native API gateway. During the summer, I will be working on porting the integration tests of four power policies for the Chromebooks to the Tast framework, written in golang. In this period, I wish to upgrade my coding skill, manage chromium's monolithic codebase efficiently, and get some memorable learning experience by engaging with the community.

I like to spend my leisure time watching anime, working with new technologies, reading blogs, articles and listening to podcasts on backend engineering, microservices & service mesh.

Vishal Chaudhary

Currently I am a intern at Dropsolid and working on Apache Unomi sdk and Unomi module in drupal,

I will be working on adding end to end tests for DLP using tast framework,

From this internship I hope to learn about chromium and solving interesting problems in large code bases, Like to exercise and travel as hobby.

Ashutosh

I am a final year CSE undergrad with specialization in Cyber Security and Forensics in collaboration with IBM. During this summer, I will be working on adding a Components UI to the Webview Devtools App. I wish to learn all the intricacies in the process of working on such a large-scale project and to imbibe the work culture of an esteemed organization such as Chromium. Over the course of the next 10 weeks, I wish to grow not only as a developer but as a human being in general. My hobbies include cooking and listening to music. I also never say no to a friendly match of chess.

Aayush Joglekar

I am a final year B.Tec(I.T.) at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad. This summer, I will be working on developing a diagnostics application for ChromeOS. The project involves work with Progressive Web Apps, Chrome Extensions and WebAssembly. I hope to learn these technologies and apply them to build a functional and beautiful software. Along with this, I also aim to contribute to the Chromium Browser. Working with mentors from Google also gives a great opportunity to learn good coding practices and technical communication skills. When I'm not working, I love to learn Piano, cycling or watch The Office.

Shivam Agarwal

I am an undergrad student, pursuing Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) at IIIT Surat.

During the summer, I will be working on upgrading chromestatus.com to use Python 3, improving its usability and test coverage.

I have always been interested in Chromium as it is at the fore-front of development of web browsers which have the potential to transform the lives of people. From this internship, I wish to learn about contributing to Open-Source Software, enhance my software development skills, learn about efficient software design and experience the life of a chromium developer.

My favourite hobbies include tracing the history of computers, video editing and reading about the latest in Technology and Automobiles. I am a huge fan of Cricket and love watching it. I am always full of wanderlust and like cycling and driving. I am also a nature lover.
