gclient sync gives me:

Error: Command git checkout --quiet a9bfebe2c289475af0fd59abee6c95359ebaa4ce returned non-zero exit status 128 in /Users/avi/Source/chrome-git/src/third_party/trace-viewer
fatal: reference is not a tree: a9bfebe2c289475af0fd59abee6c95359ebaa4ce

due to a line in .DEPS.git:
    'src/third_party/trace-viewer':
        Var('git_url') + '/external/trace-viewer.git@a9bfebe2c289475af0fd59abee6c95359ebaa4ce',

Updated last night with r143867. Is this correct?

Bernhard changed that code this morning. Maybe depot_tools' r143898 should be reverted?

Do you have a stack trace for the error?

Bernhard.

This just cleared itself, and the checkout proceeded just fine.

Yeah, I reverted my change :) I'll un-revert locally and try to
reproduce the issue.

Bernhard.

My gclient sync fails with a similar message:

Error: Command git checkout --quiet
7a6fc815d62905d0c52705b96225b1bd23e00a43 returned non-zero exit status
128 in /work/chromium/src/v8
fatal: reference is not a tree:
7a6fc815d62905d0c52705b96225b1bd23e00a43

My git repo was already up to date. My depot_tools are at r144451. I
have an WebKit repo as a (fake) submodule.

Any hints?

I told Bernhard to commit the CL as I and he failed to reproduce. Can anyone reproducing this problem IM me?

BTW, the fix is checked it. Sorry for the inconvenience but git workflow sync should be faster now.
