PSA: Process for Web Platform Deprecations with associated Android WebView APIs

Hi chromium-dev,

TL;DR: If you are deprecating a Web Platform feature that impacts an Android WebView API, please follow this new deprecation process.

After encountering obstacles while deprecating WebSQL in Android WebView, we’ve been working with the Android WebView team to define a process WP feature owners can follow when deprecating a Web Platform API that involves an Android WebView API. Because Android processes can take a very long time, our goal is to inform feature owners so they can plan accordingly when attempting a deprecation.

We have published a deprecation process (linked from Launching Features > Feature deprecations) on how to safely remove Web Platform features that impact Android WebView APIs. Unfortunately due to Android processes & tools being limited to Google internal, non-Googlers will need a Google Champion to assist with this type of deprecation.
