While updating a Linux chrome sandbox, I get the following:

Updating projects from gyp files...
Package libudev was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libudev.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'libudev' found

Lacking much experience with Linux, I do not know how to fix this. Any suggestions?

Mike

Could you try:
sudo apt-get install libudev-dev

or:
build/install-build-deps.sh

Yeah, that was it! I hadn't gone through the full linux prep. Thanks Tommy!

HI ,
I have been building chrome on Ubuntu for sometime now. Recently, I switched to Centos just for a change. Now when I try to sync with gclient, it fails with the above mentioned error. I went through the online documentation http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/LinuxBuildInstructions to check if RPM based systems aren't supported as build systems but I didn't find any information there. Did I miss anything ? Appreciate your response. Thanks.

Regards,
Miyurz.

Very few Chromium developers use RPM-based distros for development, so
you have to do some more work to set up your development environment.
Do you have the libudev-devel package installed?
