Not sure if it's appropriate to ask here, but I'm trying to solve a problem and poking in all directions, perhaps someone will have an idea.

I'm running automated tests in chrome on Linux (RHEL7), headless. I have in my disposal a machine with 36 cores and 2 threads per each. And around 512Gb of memory. While the memory is not an issue, I can open only around 70 chromes, before CPU usage hits the 100%. The most cpu hungry process is chrome's renderer process. I will say at once that the pages it's loading contain no videos, no images. Only text and input forms.

How can I decrease chrome's render cpu usage? because achieving only 70 chromes on such machine is not a way to go...

You can file an issue at crbug.com or crbug.com/chromedriver, as I believe it is the automation that causes the high CPU usage.
