Hello folks!

This group is moderated, which means that if you are not a member of the group (you haven't explicitly joined it) then your email goes to a moderation queue rather than directly to the group. There are several moderators but it can take us a few hours to get to the queue, or longer across weekends, so if you send an email to the list and don't see it appear immediately, please don't just re-send it. We sometimes get 3-4 copies of the same email in our moderation queue from people who assume their email just got dropped. Please either join the group, which lets you skip moderation, or wait for us to allow your email through :)

Hi Elly,

In the past, I've had my emails sent to moderation queue, even if I was a group member (as I have been for years).

Did this change recently? And does queue skipping behavior differ between new threads and replies to existing threads?

(This email doubles as a test of current behavior for existing thread scenario.)

Regards,
Alesandro

Hi Alesandro,

I don't know of any recent (or not-so-recent) changes to the moderation behavior - group members have always skipped the queue, as far as I know.

However, if you reply to an existing thread, your client will generally address the email as to: chromium-dev@ cc: [every other poster in the thread], and then even if your email is held for moderation, everyone on the CC line will still get it immediately. That can confuse people a great deal, since they will get replies from the people who got cced, but their actual post to the list itself is still sitting in the queue.

Hi Elly,

Thanks for clarification. For replies, this tracks with what I've seen for years and what happened with my earlier reply (went to moderation queue).

I hope one day moderation goes away in the thread reply scenario for group members (if reasonable), since that would definitely decrease confusion.

Have a great week and thanks for moderating! :)

Regards,
Alesandro
