I've just downloaded Chromium for the first time, according to the manual, I first ran "fetch chromium" and then "fetch blink", but I get an error message telling me that I should delete the checkout:

You appear to already have a checkout. "fetch" is used only
to get new checkouts. Use "gclient sync" to update the checkout.
Fetch also does not yet deal with partial checkouts, so if fetch
failed, delete the checkout and start over (crbug.com/230691)

I ran "gclient sync" but I still get the error message when running "fetch blink". Why is this happening and what is the reccommended practice to fix this?

I can run "git reset --hard HEAD" I guess, what do you say?

You should run either "fetch chromium" or "fetch blink" but not both
in the same checkout. Both commands fetch both repos, the difference
is that the blink one fetches the tip-of-tree blink for people working
on blink, and the chromium one fetches a known-good ~day old pinned
version of blink for people working on the rest of the browser.
