I want to be able to automatically update chromium from github at "https://github.com/username/repo/releases/latest/download/chromium.zip" every so often like every day or 24 hours.

I don't think there are any autoupdaters in the Chromium project so you might have to write your own. I've not heard of any other public autoupdater either.

Not sure if it helps you at all, but Google's updater for Chrome and other Windows client apps is based on this open source project: https://github.com/google/omaha. Note that you'd need to stand up your own server if you wished to use it.

Google hasn't open sourced Omaha server so we have been using Crystalnix Omaha server which is again open source. It works with Google Omaha client.
