wtf is tcmalloc

What the hell is TCMalloc, i don't understand, does chrome use tcmalloc, i am kinda lost in this massive chrome.gyp file.

I am having real troubles at tcmalloc.cc it always breaks at this file.

tcmalloc is a crt malloc replacement that performs much better in multithreaded situations, etc.

I understand that,

but i hit a memmory access violation, when i call BeginDownload on ResourceDispatcherHost form the IO thread at

tcmalloc.cc > ret = CheckMallocResult(heap->Allocate(size, cl)); (line 1097)

and i have no clue why.

is there a gyp variable i have to turn on, to have it function perfectly.

It is already supposed to work properly. Please file a bug if it does not. Make sure to include the steps to reproduce the problem.

Also note that an assertion or access violation in TCMalloc can be
caused by a real bug in the non-TCMalloc code (e.g. double free in
Chrome).
