Hi, I'd like to know why Sidebar feature was ripped out a two month
ago as below message.
http://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/group/chromium-reviews/browse_thread/thread/c0384eeb9f353ff1/09be0421af46f938?lnk=gst&q=sidebar&pli=1

If you know why Sidebar was ripped and who know about it, let me
know.I've already tried to contact the persons above post, but I
couldn't find the names and mail address...

As yesterday I posted, I'm interested in Sidebar in Chrome and I'd
like to develop this feature in Chrome.(Detail reason is written below
thread.)

I guess the reason is that there have been no developer in feature in
long time because Sidebar code seems to not be developed long times.
If my guess is true, I'm happy to contribute and develop Sidebar in
chromium.

If I recall (I was not directly involved) nobody was using the
sidebars and the design of the code was not how we wanted for the
product.

You're welcome to develop whatever you want and I encourage you to do
so. However, your contributions would only be accepted back into the
official repo if they were good and met with the product goals of the
project (which this probably doesn't unless you can come up with a
cool demo that wins the team over). It's not the case that you ask for
permission and then significant changes are made to the project
direction, especially when you're somebody that has no history with
the project.

If you want to contribute, I'd recommend working on small and
non-controversial bugs to start out with.

Because it wasn't compelling.

I suggest contributing in an area less controversial and less technically complex than sidebars, as Brett suggested.

Thank you for your response. I see and agree with your comment. I
overlooked how much my proposal affects chromium direction and policy
of design.

At first, I'll try to watch issues-list and get rid of small and non-
controversial bugs. In addition, I'll participate some discussion-
group to meet other interesting ideas.

I'm thank you very much. If I didn't get your comment, I'll lose my
way and go to wrong direction.

Thank you for your comments.
I see the issues about sidebar which you tell me and I understand the
detail reason.

As I wrote above, I'll try to get rid of small and non-controversial
bugs in issues-list and participate some discussion-group in
chromium. If you know issues which need to help, let me know. I've been
using C++ about 3 years in work and I've developed about memory-
management and network. (For example, I developed allocators and
network librarys for linux platforms).
