Comment #2 on issue 95435 by cur...@gmail.com: Chrome automatically mutes

I have found the solution why my Chrome was always muted, it was the Google
Toolbox extension that was doing it. I disabled one extension at a time
until I found the one that was causing my problem. Then I checked the
settings for Google Toolbox, I didn't have the icon displayed so never saw
the big red M on it (Alt+W is the key to toggle Mute All Tabs), so by
disabling and re-enabling the extension it appeared again (or I now see I
could have pressed Show Button) then I could see it was muted. So my
problem is solved and it wasn't a bug - I am very happy !!

Also fixed it for me. Chrome Toolbox (by Google) 1.0.28 was the problem.

Go to: chrome://plugins/
You will see there is 2 files for Adobe Flash Player. Disable
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_11_9_900_117.dll
and Enalbe the one on C:\C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\.......
Your Chrome will have sound as normal like before

My issue is a little more of an issue, I have only 4 extensions running,
all checked, none culprits. It auto mutes then plays radio or something.
Every time I restart it with 0 tabs and it is still there. any suggestions?

Comment #22 on issue 95435 by mecc7c...@gmail.com: Chrome automatically
For me, the culprit was a google update plugin. I just disabled it, closed
chrome, reopened chrome and the sound was back on and back to normal, the
issue was gone. The google update version was: 1.3.21.165
Hope I may have helped at least someone since it worked for me.

I have the same issue as Dram. My chrome keeps auto muting. In addition,
strange google chrome's pop up in my mixer, even when chrome is closed.
When I unmute it, it sounds like radio stations of some sort, and
automatically mutes itself within seconds, but the sound bar keeps going.
Then it will disappear and reappear randomly.

Comment #27 on issue 95435 by andosem...@gmail.com: Chrome automatically
I continue to have issues, especially with invisible chromium's on my
mixer. It sounds like some sort of radio station, and it only plays sound
for a few seconds before muting itself again. This is really irritating!
Chromium is by far my favorite browser. I'm even going through the hassle
of un-muting just to use Chromium, and at times it's just heart breaking.

Thanks for the advice, mford. I've seen this fix, but it didn't work for
me. Furthermore, this fix seems to work for those who had just an
auto-muting issue, and not all of them at that. This fix doesn't address
the weird chrome instances that only show up in my mixer.

NPSWF32_11_9_900_117.dll"

My roommate was having the same problem, and we searched instead for the
folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\. It had several different files
in it that ended in the same numbers 32_11_9_900_117.dll at the end. Each
of them had been updated around the day when the problem started. When we
tried to delete, it said it needed administrative permission. In properties
of the files, it said we needed administrative permission in order to add
permission to users, so instead we used Spybot which allowed us to "kill"
several of the files. One file was stubborn and could not be "killed"
or "shredded," and so we unchecked "read only" in properties and renamed
the file to be a .txt file, rendering the contents a bunch of gibberish.
After restarting the computer and returning to the sound mixer, we were
able to unmute Chrome once and for all!

Best wishes,
~P&S

I tried all the suggested solutions and none of them worked and it seems
like some of you are still stuck too. I found a solution that worked for me
though

Go to your Control Panel and open Uninstall Programs
look for something called GigaClick Clawer and uninstall it.
I'm assuming it was bloatwear/malwear downloaded when i updated Chrome

Mine was muting as well, and every time I pressed the mute button to
un-mute it would play radio broadcasts. I found this post and noticed many
others had my same issue...well, I managed to solve mine. Deleting the
pepper flash file didn't work, it just made the flash crash. So, I
uninstalled it only to re-install. The problem seems to have been solved.

Hope this helps,
Best of Luck!

I am having the same problem as adosem, when I open my sound mixer after I
have opened google an invisible google tab opens that sounds like some sort
of random radio station and at some points when I am watching youtube or
just doing something else it would unmute itself for a few seconds before
just muting itself again. My normal google also just mutes itself randomly
after I haven't touched it for a while and also sometimes during watching a
video or doing anything for that matter. I would really appreciate help.
