Windows with "error 0xffffffff"

Has there been any update on this bug? I'm experiencing the exact same
problem. I
tried the stand alone installer, but the same error occurred.

I sent the same instructions to williams.dane but have not received a
response. We're
unable to investigate further without a detailed log.

I am experiencing the same issue with both installation methods, online and
standalone. Would you mind sending me the instructions for creating the
logs as well?
I'm happy to provide the logs.

The users had similar versions of security software installed, but we were
unable to
reproduce with this software, even at the strictest security settings.

I also confirmed that Group Policy restrictions result in a different error:
0x800704ec (ERROR_ACCESS_DISABLED_BY_POLICY).

For any other users seeing this, please look at your security software logs
and the various logs in Event Viewer for any events around the time of the
error. If you find
anything, please let us know. Also, we'd be interested to know what
security software
you have installed and whether you are on a corporate network.

I am facing the same error. Tried the offline installation file as well.
And yes I am in an enterprise environment, but i have installation rights
and am able to install just about any other software without problems.
Opera, firefox all seem to be working fine. I am not sure about the local
policy enforced but since you say an anti-virus or other agent might be
blocking this , I tried disabling mc-afee host intrusion prevention
software and even the antivirus. But nothing worked.

This is repro on Win7 (64 bit) box. I am thinking it must be related chrome
build installtion through Omaha. I was able to resolve the issue with
Chromium direct installation using continuous build.

I have the same problem, with both the 555kB and the
ChromeStandaloneSetup.exe 20.8MB version. Both virusscanner (SEP11) and
Windows itself doesn't log ANYTHING when getting the error. I've WinXP-Pro,
not in a corporate environment. I'm logged in as an admin. What didn't
help: clearing the extensive hosts-file, clearing
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution, clearing C:\WINDOWS\Installer, clearing
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations, disabling the firewall (NetLimiter2)
and virusscanner, creating a new user with admin rights. What are the exact
prerequisites for Chrome? Please pulicize the instructions to create logs,
so we don't have to ask individually.
