New issue 318646 by mzso...@gmail.com: Chrome won't start after update to
latest stable version
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=318646

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like
Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/30.0.1599.114 Chrome/30.0.1599.114 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. apt-get install google-chrome-stable
2. google-chrome

What is the expected behavior?
Start the browser

What went wrong?
Browser would not start and gives error:
[1113/110043:ERROR:nacl_helper_linux.cc(233)] NaCl helper process running
without a sandbox!
Most likely you need to configure your SUID sandbox correctly

Did this work before? Yes on version 30.0

Chrome version: 31.0.1650.48-1 Channel: stable
OS Version: kubuntu 13.10
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45

System is 32 bit, flash has been disabled.
With --no-sandbox the browser starts, but all pages are blank, even
settings and any page.

Comment #2 on issue 318646 by vratisla...@gmail.com: Chrome won't start
after update to latest stable version
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=318646

Operating system: Kubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-56-generic (i686)
Chrome version: 31.0.1650.57-1 Channel: stable
Flash version: 11.1.102.63

Same problem with start Google Chrome:
After click on icon on the desktop browser doesn't start.
Typing google-chrome in the command line return error:
[1116/004653:ERROR:nacl_helper_linux.cc(233)] NaCl helper process running
without a sandbox! Most likely you need to configure your SUID sandbox
correctly

Before update Google-Chrome worked well!

Also option --no-sandbox give me same reason:
Browser starts, but all pages are blank and any operation gives error:
[3932:3952:1116/005726:ERROR:child_process_launcher.cc(327)] Failed to
launch child process

Exactly the same problem here on Linux Mint 15. Could the native client
integration please be removed from stable Linux builds until it works on
AMD chipsets?

Okay, I think I'm getting somewhere on this one. The culprit seems to be
Pepper Flash.

I can reproduce exactly the same errors in chromium-browser by following
these instructions to install Pepper Flash:
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/04/install-pepper-flash-player-for.html

Remove (or comment out) the relevant line from
/etc/chromium-browser/default and the problem goes away and the browser
loads normally. Now if we knew where the Google Chrome default settings
file went on Linux (somewhere under /opt/ ?), we could try commenting the
equivalent out there to verify that it is indeed Pepper Flash that is
behind this nasty.

Still happens with all three recent flavours in the repository. And this is
not dependent on an Athlon XP CPU:
--
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 11
model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1200MHz
--
--disable-setuid-sandbox does not resolve the problem, as the browser
starts with this but is not usable.

I tried to update Chrome to version 32.0.1700.102-1 but unfortunately
problem still persist. So I get back to version 27.0.1453.110.

Exactly the same problem on dual Pentium III MoBo, NVidia 2mx/400 & 1GB
RAM, with OpenSuse 12.2 KDE 32 bit and Chrome releases 33.0.1750.115-1
(stable) and 34.0.1838.2-1 (unstable).
Pity.
Worse still, I haven't got any older versions to fall back to (so using
Firefox as a stop-gap).

I have been battling similar issues with both Ubuntu 14.04 and Mint 17
running Chrome versions 37.xxx (stable) - 39.xxx (unstable), on AMD XP
1800+ and AMD XP 3000+ machines. After having to resolve several
dependencies, I am able to get clean installs, but upon starting the
browser I get "This computer can no longer run Google Chrome because its
hardware is no longer supported."

This is a total bummer especially being that I built both systems hoping to
take advantage of the native HTML5 in Chrome 38+ :(

#17 ranjit..
This issue appears to affect machines with AMD processors.
google-chrome-stable 38.0.2125.104-1(Today) gives the same message and will
not launch.

Comment #20 on issue 318646 by ludd...@gmail.com: Chrome won't start after
After a 12.04 update some months ago, neither Chrome nor Chromium will
launch. With Chrome I get a message that my hardware(it's an old Packard
Bell desktop)doesn't support it. I suppose the same is for Chromium, only
it just doesn't launch. So, is it possible to find a previous version of
one or the other? I've looked at the google site and didn't find one.
