New issue 226929 by shyc2...@gmail.com: ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES when
visiting a ftp site via SOCKS proxy
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=226929

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like
Gecko) Chrome/28.0.1465.0 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
ftp://ftp.archive.ubuntu.com/

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Set the proxy of Chrome (not system proxy) to socks5://127.0.0.1:7070
(using command-line options or extensions like SwitchySharp).
2. Verify the proxy works by visiting any HTTP website.
3. Now open ftp://ftp.archive.ubuntu.com/ (or any other ftp:// URL).

What is the expected behavior?
Chrome should show the content on the ftp server. A request should be made
through the SOCKS proxy to the ftp server.

What went wrong?
Chrome shows an error page with "ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES" on it for all
ftp:// URLs. However, all HTTP URLs are fine.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 28.0.1465.0 Channel: n/a
OS Version: Ubuntu 13.04

I see the same ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES in Chrome 39.0.2171.95 m (64-bit)
on Windows, configured with a .pac file that returns a SOCKS5 proxy.

In Firefox, FTP over SOCKS5 seems to work fine.

No one's working on this - improving FTP support isn't a high priority,
unfortunately, as it's not exactly common these days. Combine with with
SOCKS proxies, and we're talking about a really tiny portion of our user
base that this matters for.
