Comment #1 on issue 527923 by 7cher...@gmail.com: Change Bookmark Folder
I confirm that folder icons are now black instead of yellow in the bookmark
bar. I downloaded builds 347124 and 347166 and both versions have the
problem (cf. screenshot)

Able to reproduce the issue on windows 7, Linux Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome
version 47.0.2499.0 with the below steps

1.Create new folder to bookmark bar
2.Observe that the icon is black color.

This is observed only on win and linux. This is working fine on Mac.This is
recent regression issue broken in M47.Please find the bisect information as
below

With a dichotomy process, I identify first build where black icons appear :
build 346737 whereas build 346728 displays still yellow icons.

Last build 347565 displays black icons.

Hoping it helps !

Are the folder icons going to be reverted back to YELLOW?

Can I somehow do it myself?

I meet the problem too, and --top-chrome-md flag can do nothing with me,
the icons are grey yet on win7 64bits.

This seems to be happening on the newly released stable build Version
47.0.2526.73 on Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS).

Interestingly the icons didn't start out that way (the bookmarks bar folder
icons were initially their normal yellow color) but I noticed they were
black after launching Chrome a few times on Windows and looking at history
there (so open tabs and bookmarks presumably sync'd at that time).
However, the folder icons in the bookmarks bar are still yellow on the
Windows machine.

In the Bookmark Manager in Linux, the folder icons look normal (yellow).
But they are all still black in the bookmarks bar...

As we update Chrome for Material Design, the icons are getting flatter and
more uniform in their color. The grey of this folder (0x5a5a5a) should be
appearing in a lot of places soon. It applies to ChromeOS as well as Linux.
Windows and Mac need to have special folder icons for reasons beyond my
ability to describe.

@est That is sad, because several black (they actually look black) icons
with black text in row just look like mess and are unpleasant for eyes. Now
text itself is less expressive and it takes more time to find bookmark
folder required.

Please fix. You can't distinguish folder icons from text/emoji in the
bookmark bar at a glance anymore.

This feels like "change for change's sake". And yes, the new look is fugly.
An option to change them back to the old look would be nice.

Version: 47.0.2526.73 (64-bit)
Distro: Arch 64bit (Intel/AMD)

These "grey" icons look very black on my screen and are a very unwelcome
change. The rationale presented above is not sufficient to make the mess
that has been made of the user interface - please either revert this
horrible design choice or provide a control allowing us to use the previous
behaviour. It's just plain ugly as hell, people - listen to your users, not
your graphic designers.

I do not believe that "material design" requires my chrome browser to look
like the victim of a drive-by machine gun attack. If this is intentional,
then your Designers are bad, and they should feel bad.

Please restore the yellow folder icons. I'm sure there is a way to meet the
requirements of "material design" and keep the folders looking like folders.
