Able to reproduce the issue on Windows 7 OS.

File with .mhtml extension is not opening in chrome. This works fine in
Firefox browser.

This is a non regression issue.

The problem is not opening MHT files in Chrome. They open just fine if they
are saved to the hard drive and if you have changed the default application
for opening MHT files from IE to Chrome.

The problem is that MHT files will not open FROM THE WEB. Regardless of
what you do, when you click on an MHT file linked on a web page in Chrome,
the Save As... dialog box opens. No, I don't want to do that. I want the
file to open in a new tab just as it does if you did what the first
paragraph says to do.

This shouldn't be too difficult since Chrome can open MHT files stored on a
hard drive.

I have the same problem. Win7 OS, Chrome Version 28.0.1500.95 m.

Chrome is ABLE to open the .mht file correctly ONLY IF the .mht is stored
locally on hard disk, suggesting that Chrome already has a built-in mht
decoding engine.

But I couldn't open a .mht link correctly in a Chrome tab. I guess there
may be some confusion that Chrome treat any link as html, and it should be
easy to fix.

TRY THIS:

A. save the "mht" as you normally do in Chrome...

B. WHEN it don't open in "Chrome" ...IT "WILL IN OPERA"

C. just right-click on "your saved desktop chrome mht file" and
SPECIFY "OPEN WITH" AND USE "OPERA BROWSER...

Chrome Can't view .mht, even the latest version I installed this afternoon.
IE can do this well, Once thought there must be something wrong with my
computer. After having a browse of what others said here, I think it's
unbelievable~~ that chrome chooses to give up this function.

we want to avoid IE as much as we can for these files.

Don't fix! For now, I believe that .mht files are virus carriers in the
assembly of the package as a web link.
