New issue 131637 by
kikone...@gmail.com: Weird asiatic characters support
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=131637
Chrome Version : 19.0.1084.52
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari: Not tested
Firefox 13.0: OK
IE 9: OK
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Power on the computer
2.Start Google Chrome
3.Go to some asiatic page
What is the expected result?
Asiatic characters are displayed correctly.
What happens instead?
Asiatic characters are *partially* not displayed correctly (instead, there
are squares). This happens not only in Google Chrome, also in all the
operating system.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
This is hard to explain because the bug is a bit complex... So I'll do it
in parts:
1."Partially not displayed correctly"
That means, asiatic characters after launching Google Chrome are displayed
correctly in:
·Websites
·Text editors
·File names (in windows explorer)
But are not displayed in:
·Page title
·Bookmarks
·Anywhere else in the OS (file properties, installations, quick info, some
software, etc.)
2.But that's a problem of the operating system
NO. This is where the weird thing comes. If I start whatever application
that needs asiatic characters support *before* starting Google Chrome, they
are displayed correctly everywhere, even in Google Chrome bookmarks and
page titles.
3.There's a difference between operating systems
I have actually tested this in three different computers:
·Windows 7 Professional & Windows 7 Home Premium: This strange thing
happens.
·Windows XP: All works perfectly.
4.And that's it
I hope someone can get this issue and investigate it. It's really strange.
