This is a major blocker for me; it prevents use of Chrome debug tools
because I can't get past the application login screen.

Found a work around! "IE Tab" from the Chrome web store (free):

"It exactly emulates IE by using the IE rendering engine directly within
Chrome. This will enable you to use ActiveX controls and test your web
pages with different versions of IE (IE6, IE7, IE8, or IE9)."

The Chrome inspect/debug tools seem to work as usual, even though the page
is (optionally) displayed using the IE rendering engine, which doesn't have
the Java iview Runtime error.
