What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open gmail
2. Open a bunch of chats
3. Chat with some folks

The whole mole seems to keep flashing white for a single frame every so
often as you chat.

Not sure who to assign this to or how to bisect since it requires chatting
with folks for a while. Perhaps someone knows what's going on.

I'd imagine this (at least the Mac part) to be dupe of issue 323524. Fix
for that should be in Canary. I can look into adjusting Windows as well (we
don't give it much room, but I hadn't heard complaints until this one).

Here's how I can reproduce it on my personal gmail account on mac retina
laptop:
1. open mail.google.com
2. after everything settles, I click on one of my contacts in the chat
list to open up the chat mole.
3. 90% of the time, the chat mole will appear, briefly disappear, then
re-appear.
4. for the second and third chat moles that I open simultaneously, the
flickering also occurs, but only about 60% of the time.

I bisected and narrowed it down to

reverting that patch fixes the issue on tip-of-tree.

dongseong.hwang@ - I am re-assigning to you. We will need to get a fix as
soon as possible, because it has to be merged back to m33 as well. If
there's anything I can do to help you merge a fix to m33, please let me
know.

If you feel that reverting is a realistic option, we should go ahead and do
that. But, looking briefly at that patch, it seems also to be a bugfix
that we should not just blindly revert.

I try to reproduce it in win7 using Version 34.0.1796.2 canary
However, I can not reproduce it yet.

The chat mole is them in the png file, right?
Does this issue depend on gmail's setting or theme or something?

I cannot repro either anymore.

esprehn@ do you feel things are still blinky on tip of tree / canary? If
not, then we could inverse-bisect to see what may have fixed it.

This may not be a duplicate. I'm seeing this on Stable version
33.0.1750.117 (Official Build 252094) on my Mac retina, even though the
duplicate was fixed and merged to 33. (how disappointing it got into
stable...)

It tended to happen reliably with one chat mole + the other person
initiates typing to cause the "..." ellipsis to appear. I think you need
to have the overflow as well, so the conversation needs at least a few
entries in it already.

I think this needs to be re-opened. Feel free to close if someone knows
it's fixed but just not in stable.
