New issue 69345 by geophree: Chrome fails to start,
error: "/usr/lib/libnss3.so.1d: version `NSS_3.12.6' not found"
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=69345

Chrome Version: 10.0.634.0-r70875 (from what synaptic claims is installed)
Is this the most recent version: Yes
OS + version: Ubuntu 8.10 (32-bit)
CPU architecture (32-bit / 64-bit): 64-bit
Window manager: Gnome

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run "google-chrome" from the command line

What is the expected result?
Chrome starts.

What happens instead?
An error is printed:
/opt/google/chrome/google-chrome: /usr/lib/libnss3.so.1d: version
`NSS_3.12.6' not found (required by /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome)

In synaptic the google-chrome-unstable package claims to be dependent on:
libnss3-1d (>= 3.12.3)
Which may not be high enough given the error message.

It may have something to do with flash, but I don't really know.

This started today (2011-01-11) when the ubuntu software updater updated to
the latest version.

I can confirm, on debian lenny, up to date (5.0.7), same error (cannot run
chrome)
The binary is compiled in a way that make it unable to run.

Comment #3 on issue 69345 by benjamin...@gmail.com: Chrome fails to start,
error: "/usr/lib/libnss3.so.1d: version `NSS_3.12.6' not found"
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=69345

I have the same issue with Debian Lenny 5.0.7.
My (ugly) workaround is install libnss3-1d from
the backport repository (libnss3-1d (3.12.8-1~bpo50+1))
After that Chrome will start normally.
But this is just a ugly workaround for those
who can't wait for the final fix of this ticket!

I have the same problem in Debian Lenny after installing the newest Google
Chrome Unstable. I don't know how to properly use the backport repository
so my Chrome is dead for now

wtc, agl: Have the requirements changed? I understood they were still
3.12.3. Is it possible that http://crrev.com/70620 is forcing 3.12.6, even
with the weak attribute?

@comment 6:
Can you do a : dpkg -l | grep libnss
and post it. Here it works well with
the backport.
