New issue 233073 by
yus...@chromium.org: Chrome OS IME: Phonetic IMEs
should support all non-US hardware keyboards
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=233073
Chrome Version : 27.0.1453.46
OS Version: 3912.23.0
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Buy a Chromebook with the UK keyboard
2. Try to use Japanese IME (or traditional Chinese Pinyin IME) on the
Chromebook
What is the expected result?
Can use the IMEs with the keyboard.
What happens instead of that?
It's not possible because for Japanese, only "Google Japanese Input (for US
keyboard)" and "Google Japanese Input (for Japanese keyboard)" are
provided. For traditional Chinese, only US keyboard is supported.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
Now Lucas/Pixel is sold outside the US, I believe we should support all
hardware keyboard layouts.
Non-phonetic IMEs like Chinese Cangjie do not have the issue since such
IMEs typically use only keycodes (not keysyms).
