Same problem. I can work around it by typing a search first. The work
around seems to work as long as my browser stays open (e.g., close the
search page tab, open a new search page, and it still works). Hope this
gives the devs some insight.

I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with chrome version 27.0.1453.93 m and
I wasn't able to get it to work at all. It keeps asking to allow voice
controls but the dialogue box which appeared the first time no longer
appears and then hangs until it says "No internet connection"

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (mostly not). Could it maybe be
because of language issues? My Google always goes to google.nl (where I
am), and maybe the voice search is confused because of the permissions (in
my media manager google.nl is mentioned, not google.com).
I do use wifi. But reconning wifi doesn't fix it.

It seems to work very occasionally after a lot of refreshes, but the vast
majority of the time (19/20 tries, I'd guess) I get the no internet
connection error.

Before this update, on google.com US language it was working fine. Now it
seems that the update broke it, although it brought the mic icon for other
languages, which still give me the No connection error issue.

I believe this is now resolved.
The API Key used by Chrome M27 did not have enough QPS provisioned, so it
was throttling.
The API Key was not the API Key that was provisioned for Chrome usage (and
thus, did not have sufficient QPS).
I increased the QPS of the API Key now used in Chrome M27.
I will write a post-mortem.

Hmm. I updated Chrome to version 27.0.1453.93 m on another Windows PC, and
the audio search feature works on that one.
Different versions of Windows 7 - one Ultimate 64bit (the one that doesn't
work), the other Pro 32bit (that does work) - and Chrome has different
extensions in each install. More likely, I think, is different audio
hardware setup on each computer?

Running Comodo Dragon V26 (Chrome), Lenovo Thinkpad, Windows 7 Ultimate,
not working on 8 July 2013.
This extension works. Go to tools/extensions/get more extensions and
search "voice search". Install "Voice Search" (search by speaking) and "add
to Chrome". Installs a microphone icon on top RH toolbar. Select microphone
icon and speak. Will work for Google Maps/Images/Videos/Youtube and others.
It is loading more messages.
