Hey Pablo/Stephen,

Can you please help route this LBS extension bug report to the right place?

Hello Everyone,

same Problem here. Since Update to IE 11 the switch from IE to Chrome
doesn't work anymore. Switching from Chrome to IE works fine though.

Any suggestions/updates related to this topic?

Can you please have a look at
/Users/<youruser>/AppData/LocalLow/Google/BrowserSwitcher/ and in
/Users/<youruser>/AppData/Local/Google/BrowserSwitcher/ and upload the
files from there?

IMPORTANT: Please before uploading it here make sure any personal
information (paths/urls) that might be in this file are removed. As long as
you use the sample data described above there should be nothing to really
worry about in this file though!

I attached 2 screenshots, one from the IE Add-On window, the other
from "Programs and Features".
The Add-On is installed and activated.

Couldn't find the file anywhere on the PC.

By the way, it's IE11 on a Windows 8.1 PC. On an Win7 PC with updated IE
from 10 to 11 there are no problems at all (with the exact same policies).

Are you running IE in desktop or metro mode? LBS only works in desktop mode
at the moment.

Same on a Windows 8.1 Notebook.. are there any IE settings beside
the "Enhanced Protection Mode" important for LBS to work?

I am also having this issue for IE 11 and it is preventing us from using
this effectively within a state organization dependent on legacy web apps.

I can confirm:
Switching from Chrome to IE works fine.
Switching from IE to Chrome never works. The plugin reports that it while
enabled it has a run count of 0.

I also have similar cache.dat & native_log.txt files but no presence of
ie_bho_log.txt anywhere.

This is in desktop mode (no metro on 64 bit Windows 7). What I've tried so
far:

Running IE 11 with protected mode disabled & the 64/32 bit plugin installed.
I additionally tried setting the IE security zones all to medium (the
lowest setting). I tried re-registering both the 64 & x86
browser_switcher_bho.dlls.

I also tried installing the 32 bit LBS and running the browser. No luck.

I used process monitor to scan for any mention of the dll or anything
related to "Legacy" or "Google" from iexplore.exe and found nothing.

I have several specific "Hosts to Open In the Alternative Browser"
specified, eg. specificdomain.com in the gpo template and this is the only
setting that is enabled. I also tried adding !* !www !http:// to
the "Hosts..." but to no avail.

Any suggestions? Hopefully I am posting this in the right place - the two
other bug reports mentioning IE 11 to Chrome failing to switch have been
closed as won't fix (presumably due to lack of info).

Solved:

IE 11 _reports_ extensions enabled even if you have not "allowed third
party browser extensions." Thus the BHO will never run if this is
unchecked. It's an obvious fix if you know that setting is there, but if
not, you can waste a lot of time trying to get this working. Maybe this
should be added to the LBS installation directions?

Can be enabled globally by setting the
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\Enable Browser Extensions" string to "yes" or presumably
through a GPO somewhere.

Regards,

Kevin Follstad

Actually comment 16 has the solution listed so I will mark it as fixed.
