UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML,
like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.94 Safari/537.4

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Pre-Requisite:
- This must be reproduced in a setting where the organization has a
Firewall and Proxy Infrastructure.
- Run these steps using Task Scheduler with SYSTEM Account

1. Install Google Chrome Enterprise 22.0.1229.94 Enterprise MSI on Win7 or
WinXP with Enterprise Proxy / Firewall in place.
2. Next, after launching Google Chrome 22.0.1229.94 as a test, remove
Google Chrome 22.0.1229.94 using the following command:
C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe /x {35790B21-ACFE-33F5-B320-9DA320D96682}
/qb- /l*v " C:\TEMP\RemoveGoogleChrome23.0.1271.64.log"
3. Next, Install Google Chrome using the following command:
C:\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /i "C:\TEMP\GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi"
NOGOOGLEUPDATEPING=1 /qb- /l*v C:\TEMP\GoogleChrome23.0.1271.64.log"
4. Apply the registry settings that disable Google Update via Group Policy.

What is the expected behavior?
1. Google Chrome 22.0.1229.94 uninstalls successfully.
2. Google Chrome 23.0.1271.64 installs successfully.

What went wrong?
1. Installation appears fine, but “GoogleUpdate.exe” process is left
running, and prevents installation from completing.

As a troubleshooting step, we added a fixed_proxy value for Google Update
in the Group Policy, but never needed to specify proxy for Google Update in
the past.

2. We reviewed our proxy configuration to ensure there were no changes.
a. We specified a valid hard-coded proxy – no help
b. We tried to use a fake proxy - No success.

We have not experienced this behavior with Chrome 21.0.1180.89, nor
22.0.1229.94 deployments.

Chrome version: 23.0.1271.64 Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)

We apply the following Google Chrome GPO Settings as far back as Chrome 21
and 22, and have not experienced any issues with past upgrades, expect for
when upgrading to Google Chrome Enterprise 23

Experiencing the same problem with Chrome 28.0.1500.

OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit.

Command:
msiexec /i "GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi" NOGOOGLEUPDATEPING=1

Result:
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as
part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contect your support
personnel or package vendor.

Two GoogleUpdate processes running during install
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GUM1868.tmp\GoogleUpdate.exe" /silent
/install "appguild{...
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GUM1868.tmp\GoogleUpdate.exe" /regsvc

Appears as though the installer is ignoring the NOGOOGLEUPDATE property.

Hi there,

we have reportet still the same Probleme under issue 345670, Chrome to
deploy: v32, v33, but no solution yet. Maybe someone of you had found a
workaround to this problem? The installation terminates well without errors
if i kill the process "GoogleUpdate.exe", somebody of yours know a
comman-line tool to do this while about 30 seconds after calling it?
(NOGOOGLEUPDATEPING=1 seems to be realy ignored!)

Hi,

I am encountering the same issue. Any status as to if the issue was ever
resolved?
NOGOOGLEUPDATEPING=1 does not work for me. Chrome version is 46.0.2490.
