New issue 132649 by sprigo...@google.com: Chrome insists on printing to an
old default printer
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=132649

Chrome Version : 20.0.1132.27
OS Version: Ubuntu Linux 2.6.38.8

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I'm not sure how to reproduce the problem on a different computer, but on
my machine Chrome always defaults to an old printer. This printer used to
be my default, but since then I moved to a different location and set up a
different default printer in the system settings. Chrome doesn't seem to
pay any attention to the system settings and doesn't remember the last used
printer between sessions. If I print several time within the same session
the last used printer is automatically selected, but the selection reverts
to the old printer once Chrome is restarted.

UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/536.11 (KHTML,
like Gecko) Chrome/20.0.1132.27 Safari/536.11

I have the same problem in Chrome 22.0.1216.0 canary on Win XP SP3.
This started about a month ago or so.
When I select Print the print preview dialog comes up, shows the Print
button
for a second and then changes it to a Save (as pdf) button.
If I click the Change... button and then Local Destinations Manage ...
I can select the correct printer and print.
But the next time I print something the dialog is back to Save as pdf.
Very annoying.

I've tried a tip I read somewhere to delete the default printer and
reinstall it
but that didn't help.

Update: I just updated my work PC (Win XP) from Canary 22.0.1216.0 to
22.0.1217.0
but that didn't help like it did on my Win7 laptop yesterday (see previous
post).
Could this be Windows version dependent?

bedata and spirogogin, can you try on the latest dev? If you print to a
printer the same printer should now be selected when you open the dialog
again.

I starting having the exact same problem just this past week (always
defaults to print-to-pdf no matter how I change defaults. It is very
frustrating. I have the current Chrome version.

Use your favorite package manager to uninstall whatever "google-chrome-*"
package you have installed and install "google-chrome-unstable"

Sorry about the late answer (vacation ...)

Problem is back on 22.0.1229.8 dev-m (see my note from Jul 26)
and is still not fixed on 23.0.1239.0 canary (Win XP) :-(
