What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Shutdown / Restart Computer
2.Wait for bootup.
3.Open Chrome and see it just hangs with a white page loading the home page
indefinitely.

What is the expected result?


What happens instead?
It loads the home page.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/536.5

I may also see this. If you select the omnibox (URL/location field) and
press enter, does it load as normal?

If so, it sounds a lot like what I've experienced on both Windows 7 and
Linux/Ubuntu.

Same issue here on two machines. It's been happening for a couple of months
on my laptop. Just did a first-time Chrome install on my Dell PC and got
the same result. Chrome almost always hangs when started.

And, yes... hitting Return in the address bar wakes it up.

I am experiencing this issue every time Chrome tries to update itself.
Closing the browser and reopening it seems to fix it.

The error in chrome_installer.log looks like this:

[0807/224814:ERROR:delete_tree_work_item.cc(129)] can not delete
C:\Users\Jeremy\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\old_chrome.exe

Happens to me too.
It seemed to start after I added an extra VPN connection.
I have Windows 7 64-bit, MSE, and Chrome 21.0.

Same happening to me. I tried uninstalling, rebooting, re-installing Chrome
several times. Also tried re-installing Flash, deleted all history data,
etc. nothing works.

I've used Chrome for many years with zero issues. First time it dies and it
cannot be resolved. The thing is useless now, had to switch to IE 10.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit. Expert user (I am an engineer)

I am having this problem right now. I had to comment using another browser.

How can I help subsiding the solution? I managed to get logs, but they
don't seem to show anything useful.


I am also capturing Process Monitor captures, but I need to anonymize it
first.

Well.

Got this working. There was a chrome.exe process with 304kb running. I
couldn't close it with taskmanager, but managed to kill it with Process
Hacker[1].

Hope I could contribute to this bug resolution in the future ;)
